About the STI 11+

The STI 11+ Panel is MDLink's most comprehensive sexual health screen, testing for over 11 of the most clinically significant sexually transmitted infections from a single appointment. Rather than booking separate tests for each pathogen, this panel provides a complete picture of your sexual health status with one blood draw and one urine or swab sample. Results are reviewed by an experienced doctor and delivered confidentially.

What does the STI 11+ measure?

The STI 11+ panel typically screens for: HIV I & II (4th generation Ag/Ab), Chlamydia trachomatis (NAAT), Neisseria gonorrhoea (NAAT), Syphilis (VDRL/TPHA), Herpes Simplex Virus 1 IgG, Herpes Simplex Virus 2 IgG, Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), Hepatitis C antibody, Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma genitalium, and Bacterial Vaginosis markers (where applicable). The exact infections included are confirmed at booking.

STI 11+ — when & why to get tested

Understanding who needs this test and what symptoms to look out for.

Why is it performed?

Many STIs coexist and share modes of transmission. Testing for a single infection while missing others creates a false sense of security. The 11+ panel is designed for individuals who want comprehensive reassurance after a potential exposure, those starting a new relationship, those who are sexually active with multiple partners, and anyone who has not had a sexual health screen in the past 12 months.

When might you need it?

Book this panel if you have had unprotected sex with one or more new partners, if a partner has been diagnosed with an STI, if you have any symptoms such as unusual discharge, genital ulcers, painful urination, or pelvic pain, or as part of annual sexual health screening if you are sexually active.

How to prepare for the STI 11+

Do not urinate for at least one hour before your appointment (for urine-based NAAT testing). A blood sample will be taken for HIV, syphilis, hepatitis, and herpes testing. Avoid using genital washes or douches for 24 hours beforehand. No fasting is required.
